The Rideitout Team headed to the Highlands for the third World Cup of 2016. Ems Davies and Tom Davies headed North to tackle the toughest track on the calendar
Fort William world cup is the biggest race of the year for an elite british racer. Its the race that the whole track is lined with people shouting support at you.
This weekend was a banger, scorchio weather, good track changes and not too much midges!
The setup we’ve got at the rideitout team this year is the best yet, with top notch sponsors and a mechanic that can smell when my tyre pressures are a psi out. Im stoked on it!
Practice was rad, punching runs, and feeling fast and smooth.
But this race was not to be I had an unlucky mechanical in my quali run, that caused quite the crash and a good knock on the head! I remember trying to pick up my bike and having a craving for jaffa cakes! So i sat down for a bit and rolled down after feeling less peckish!
Its always truly devastating having race run mechanicals, things that are out of our control, but thats racing I guess.
Thursday we walked the track with Ems and I was so excited to ride the track was looking prime, so dry and the new wood section looked amazing. Friday practise was mint was feeling really good on the bike and was feeling fast. Quali on Saturday was good just wanted to stay on and have a steady run so I got into the main race and I quailed 19th. In finals on WA shaving a mint run until the woods when I hit a tree and stalled then blew my hand of the bar before the hazard hoofer. Gave it everything through the pedally stuff came down into 4th. Ended up 15th in the end.
