Uberbike Components – First Look
We’ve just taken delivery of a goody bag of new bits from Uberbike Components, one of the new breed of direct sales components companies…
Skinny Log Lock On Grips
A well put together set of lock-on grips with clamping rings at both ends, and a plastic plug for the end of your bars. These are a skinny grip with a slight diamond patterning in the soft rubber, along with an embossed UBERBIKE logo for a bit of extra grip. At 130mm wide they are pretty much the same width as the major grip manufactures.
RRP – £9.99 and available in 7 different colourways.
Ceramic Bottom Bracket
Looking very nicely finished, and coming in at 93g (for the 68/73mm version) this is a very desirable bottom bracket. Turning on ceramic bearings it should give a smooth ride, and is compatible with both Shimano’s Hollowtech II and Raceface X-type systems. The cups have well recessed engagements for fitting and removal, and the whole unit feels like a quality product. Ceramic bearings typically require less lubrication and last longer, as well as offering less friction.
The RRP is £59.99, a snip compared to the price of competitors’ similar products.
Sintered, Semi-Metalic and Kevlar Disc Brake Pads
A couple of sets of brake pads – Sintered for long life, semi-metalic for awesome stopping power and kevlar for both long life and brilliant stopping power. The pads are built to high tolerances and are as straightforward to fit as any other brand of pad. They are supplied with stainless steel springs as standard.
RRP – Semi Metallic £5.49 per pair, Sintered £6.99 per pair, Kevlar £7.99 per pair with discounts available for buying packs of 4 or 10.
