Tom headed down to Mid Wales to catch up with the guys from Welsh Enduro Series in the run up to the final round in the Dyfi forest.
After a super-muddy first round at Foel Gasnach, and two sunny races at Coed-y-Brenin and Coed Llandegla, the WES heads South to Aberangell and the iconic Dyfi forest.
We were lucky enough to spend the day with Rhys, the land-owner and shredder behind many of these fresh, muddy lines. After a long fire road spin up to the top of the hill opposite Hardline you drop into the Dyfi classic “Goshawk” mixing slatey switchbacks with a hearty sprint in the middle. A bit of a slog back up brings you back up to above the village for “Heaven and Hell”, much flatter, but no less challenging with endless off camber sections. From there a short push took you to the top of “Slider”. If you like wet roots and tight turns, this one is for you! A short, harsh tarmac climb slaps you in the face, but before you know it you are pointing down “Twister” for the final stage. Steep and soft, it only gets steeper as it smashes to the bottom of the valley.
The loop was about 19km, with 650m of climbing and some amazing trails that are not normally available to ride.
Come down on the 21st of October, and sample some of the steep and challenging trails! For more info and to book check out http://www.borderline-events.co.uk/enduro/
