Olie Burton’s 2013 setup

Press release: Olie Burton’s 2013 setup:

Olie has been racing on the World Cup circuit for three years now. He has seen great improvement over the years making his mark as one of the UKs top racers. With a 27th in Pietermaritzburg at the opening round of the WC series and finished his season with a 2nd at the final BDS last year he has shown he has the speed for some great results. Olie gives us a rundown of his plans and setup for this coming year.

After a great 2012 season I took a few weeks off riding and spent some time with my family and friends and hit the slopes before getting back in to the gym and sitting down at the computer to get started on organize things for this starting season. Things have come together really nicely this year, I have some great new sponsors onboard and I can’t wait to get racing again this weekend at BDS round 1 at Combe Sydenham.

This year I am lucky enough to be able to team up with Performax® Sports. They specialize in a sports range of vitamins, drinks and bars from UK based Higher Nature® The company has a long-standing track record as pioneers in nutrition and the Performax® Sports range is the latest addition to its extensive portfolio. I am very confident that their products will assist me in reaching the highest level of performance. Higher Nature® understands the importance of nutrition in an athlete’s regime too and I will be able to work closely with their nutrition team, providing me with a tailored programme to follow both on and off the track.

The biggest bike change for me this year is riding a new frame. Being on Mondraker bikes this year represents a fresh start for me and I’m looking forward to a great future racing on the SummumDH. I have been riding this new bike for a couple of months now and I feel really comfortable on it already. I really like how stable the bike feels and works. Having the adjustability in the frame really allows me to get the bike perfectly set up for me”

“We are really looking forward to working with Olie this season and are very happy to have him riding on Mondraker Bikes. Olie is a top level racer and rider and we know he will be right at home on the SummumDH bike and Foxy XR trail bike.” Said Silverfish Marketing Manager Pete Drew

One of my other new sponsors is Quench Cycles, My local shop for many years based out of Bedgebury forest in Kent. It’s great to now be able to represent them and use their expertise to keep my bike running pristine running order this season.

In addition to this I have also changed quite a lot of the products I will be using this year.

I am really happy to be using Crank Brothers pedals and Crankbrothers lightweight Opium tubeless wheels this year. Also the Kronolog adjustable seatpost on my Foxy. In addition to this I will be using Formula breaks giving me some seriously stopping power on track. 100% goggles for the coolest goggles around. MRP chain devices for guiding and protecting my chain and chainring. Lizard Skin frame protection and grips for keeping my hands firmly glued on the bars. E13 Hive cranks and E13 chainring for getting the power to the back wheel. Clif bar for that extra fuel when I need it. The Bike Shuttle holiday company which will help me train in a beautiful and technically Spanish mountains. Fox Suspension for giving me the extra grip. OGIO Bags to travel comfortably and with style, Kinesio tape to help optimum performance and injury’s and Evolution tools using their EVO-System to keep my bikes clean and always ready to race!

In addition to all this change I am really happy to be able to continue partnerships with some of the great company’s that have supported me in previous years. I will be running One Industries to keep me looking good at the races. Kore for my handlebars, stem, seat and seatpost for superior control on the bike. Schwalbe tyres giving me the grip on track and Drift helmet cameras using the new HD Ghost which will allow me to assess my riding with high quality footage.

I want to make the most of all these new opportunities and the great setup and support this year to get where I want to be. I have had an awesome winter and look forward to a successful racing year ahead.

Olie has recently been training in Spain. Here is his first helmet cam video of the season, which includes Olie’s training with Joe Smith and Rich Thomas in the sun.
