At Afan on Sunday there were a few riders who had not realised that the British Cycling rules for 2013 had changed. Previously, 4X was exempted from the rule that the bicycle "must have a functional brake on both wheels". For 2013 this exemption has been removed and 4X bikes must have two working brakes, one on the front and one on the back.
Whilst a special circumstances exception was eventually made for those with one brake at round 1, it will not be made for future rounds (or at any other BC 4X race this year). So if you are down at Falmouth, or indeed to any of the rounds later in the year, please make sure you have both a front and a rear brake or you won't be allowed to ride.
Please spread the word so we can avoid folk having their weekend spoilt.
Cheers,
Al
