renault kangoo van troubles
« on: Mar 09, 2013, 13:49 »
i've got a T reg 1.9d kangoo van with a very confusing problem that i've not been able to work out.

if driving along using lower revs in higher gear, i.e. 5th doing under 50, 4th doing under 40 3rd doing under 30 and i come to even a slight hill or try to pull away a little then a loud knocking noise comes from the engine, once started it'll keep going if even taken out of gear but normally stops before i can pull over and have a look, twice i've been able to pull over and its kept doing it so looked under the bonnet and the noise comes from drivers side of the engine, near fuel pump. and smoke coming up out of bonnet, only slight smoke, unable to tell colour as its been dark.

will give more info once got more time, run out during lunch break........

Diesel knock ? Youtube it.

Is it a dw8 engine ?

And it stops when you kill engine and start again ?

These engines are notorious for it -

One of the many hybrid sensors on this engine acting up , ill guess first at the crank position sensor.

Is on top of the gear box and its a single 5mm allen key to remove, measure across the terminals with your multimeter n ohms - should be 2-500 ohms if working
