Fort William BDS 2017
The British Downhill Series headed to Fort William for the second stop on the Calendar. As always, with the World Cup looming, every rider and his dog rocked up to get some practice in. Photo Epic time.
Fort William BDS. The mini World Cup of our National Downhill Series. Every year it brings the worlds best to our soil.
As well as which WC rides would rock up, this year the hype machine was all about 29ers, love em, hate em, you can’t avoid em and that goes for Downhill too!
Lourdes World Cup saw one team on a 29er bike. But everyone knew that all the teams would have been testing this big wheel revolution over the winter.
Danny Hart joined the club with his big wheel Mondraker. Danny is always wild here, for years wanting to win the world Cup at the Fort. Last year he spent a week solid riding every day before the BDS in prep for the World Cup. Will this year be Danny’s year here come June?
Commencal’s 3 riders were also on 29ers.
Myriam Nicole was leading in finals with the top spot on the first split. She rolled through the finish line in last place though.
Gee man was on fire! 1st in Qualification but a nasty crash, that resulted in a dislocated hip, put an end to his race run. Heal up fast Gee!
Brayton in 5th spot, he’ll be gunning it for a big result for the WC, after his first ever WC podium here last year.
Alistar Maclenan’s running the Fabien Barel knee down style.
Billy Matthews smashing it to win Senior Mens.
Camaraderie between the two Mondraker team mates, Laurie hates 29ers in racing though!
Finn Iles winning the junior mens cat. Are we looking at this years world champion?
Kade Edwards- we haven’t seen anyone throw these suicide no handers since the days of Cedric Garcia!
Manon taking on some form this weekend and taking a much needed win. Hopefully the girl from Caerphilly will get some confidence and be back to her 2014 form.
Columbian Marcelo Guiterez 4th place after a scorcher of a result in Lourdes.
Norwegian Millie Johnset is fast! Winning Junior women, she would have placed 3rd in Elite!
Loic Bruni – Quick but not quite quick enough
Rachel Atherton choose not to race finals.
One way to get a start hut shot there!
