i would say something like a 222 because they are light and not too bulky. Or if you have a bit more money get something along the lines of a v10 if you have around
Azonics are the best

The classic starter DH bike is the Specialized Big Hit, not great but good enough, strong with a reasonable shock.
The new kid on the starter DH block would have to be the new 24-7 Dark Angle DH, looks good and strong (read steel and heavy) but not many people have them to post opinions based on actual experience.
Both of these options represent good value for money.

deffo a bighit youll love it
Usain Bolt ran at 40 mph to break his previous world record. You might think that's good, but if he hits a child there's an 80% chance she'll die.

if you wnat new konas are good strong reliable bikes!

I was having this chat at work with a customer the otherday came up with:

Bighit(lots of well speced models this year with 26" rear wheel)
Kona- Stinky Coiler Stab
Norco
Transition-custom route

these are all new options

but 2nd hand you do have a wider market
Rides:
Mint Green SuperStar Parkinson
Needs to invest in a big bike!

And then i brought his patriot and it was brilliant!!!
A bighit would be good, but if your just starting out then i would say get something with a bit less travel say a patriot for example. Or summit along those lines then inn a year or 2 go on for a full 8 inch travel rig. Thats what i did.
