Best work stand for a DH bike?

I know there are some other posts on this topic but I've done a search and they are quite dated.

So, I'm looking for a stand to use in the garage that can hold my DH bike, looking for the following:
1. stability when removing wheels etc,
2. not too fussed about folding it away as it will live in the garage
3. Some manouverability when bike attached but doesnt have to be great
4. not wanting to spend more than £100

any ideas?

Well bike stands don't change that much so past threads are still relevant. Get yourself a Park Tool Home Mechanic PCS9 - meets all your criteria & is well made.

If anyone else responds to this thread they'll probably say the same...

Had one of these for 3 years now and has been flawless. It is the exact same work stand as the X-tools one (and heaps of others which cost over £100) but just re-branded and £50 cheaper.

I have a Tacx, and it's fine.
Even holds my Mom's Pashley Princess, which weighs a damn lot!

i have the top end version which is the same but made of alloy and thus lighter.

Was 115 when i bought it, and the say it arrived they incresed the discount, so i sent a cheeky email saying "thats not fair" and they refuned a tenner, top service!

OK well I stand corrected, the bike stand world does move on If you can get the pcs10 in budget get that cos the one downside to the pcs9 is the clamp is a bit fiddly.

can't say I've had any issues with mine at home? If I hold the weight of the bike (hold top tube) I can release the bike by spinning the L bar with my fingers and drop the seatpost out of the clamp in a second

it so easy to use I use to hold my mountain bike off the floor (storage) and release the bike every time I want to go riding



and in comparison, I spend all day putting bikes onto £450 Kestrel work stands, as a professional bike wrench

sounds like the pcs9 / 10 is the way forward then, now to look for a bargain!

I have a Park Tool Home Mechanic PCS9 in my garage that's been folded away and not used for about 6 months.
I'll sell it to you for under £100 ;-)

my £50 stand from decathlon doesnt fold away but holds my DH bike allday and night so i suppose the extra for foldaway is where the asnwer lies IMO or to look pimp come raceday
