Shimano XT Shadow Rear Mech - Cable Tightness

My shimano mech seems to be really tight, when trying to get into the big cog at the back , i have the barrel on shifter all way in and when i undo the cable at the back and re tighten at just finger tight on cable tension its still the same...


Anyone got any advise or tips ?

If you hold the mech in the highest gear whilst the sifter is in the lowest and then try and shft up, is there resistance in the cable suggesting corroded cables?

have you got the adjustment screws in the rear mech too tightened? loose off the "L" a quater of a turn, try leaving the cable slack and change with your hands to see if it enters the largest cog correctly, that way you know if its cable wear/tension or the adjustment screws!
