Five Ten 2011 Shoes

New shoes include the Baron which is basically a freerider but with more protection like the Impact.  My guess is this will become more popular than the Impact.  This shoe also has the new Micro Dot grip.  What do you think?

Is the midsole still made of cardboard?

Do the Barons only come in that red?

I quite like the spitfire actually, almost looks like a normal shoe that I'd wear! If it's got the same grip as a normal 5.10, I might be interested... although vans are a hell of a lot cheaper

The karver looks pretty good for wet weather too, although I think I prefer the appearance of the shimano DX's... not like they're exactly a looker either though

As Much as appearance means bugger all in DH... do they all really need such HUGE soles? They look like boot/trainers.
I suppose thats part of what makes them so 'strong'??

I'm half tempted by some Barons, but as has been said before. Skate shoes are so much cheaper, and in the long run more disposable.

think Ive just found my next set of 5:10s then as currant Mk 1 impacts are worn through in 3 places  now and are falling to pieces
anyone recon they will do a pair of shorts are well as the jersey?

then get a pair of skate shoes its the best of both worlds cheap and particularly cheerful thanks to the solvent based glue

Is it actually cheap though? How much does that kit cost delivered?

Skate shoes are about £50 in the first place, it used to be good to get feetfirst to resole them but that now costs £48!

I'm liking the new Freeriders, however with Vans bringing out a sticky rubber shoe in October, I reckon I'm going to give the new Vans a go in stead.

I'm also very interested in this, hope it's good as I really like Vans. Up until now there really hasn't been a competitor to 5.10s even though Shimano/661 and others have tried, nothing else comes close.
